Important Information Regarding Change in Dispatch:

As of 8:00 a.m. August 4, 2020, the Whitehall Fire Company is being dispatched by Allegheny County 911. This means that anyone needing assistance from the Whitehall Fire Company should dial 911. All commercial properties and residents who have a fire alarm system must call their alarm company to inform them to call Allegheny County 911 at 412-473-3370 for all fire alarm activation's. Doing so will allow for the timely response of the fire company. 

The Whitehall Police Dispatch will remain open and can still be reached 24/7 at 412-884-1100 for emergency and non-emergency police responses. Alarm companies calling in burglary alarm activation's should still call 412-884-1100.



TL;DR Call 911 if you need the fire company or EMS. Call 412-884-1100 for Whitehall Police. You should notify their alarm companies to call 412-473-3370 for all fire alarm activation's if you have a monitored fire alarm. Burglary alarms remain 412-884-1100.

Record Number of Fire Calls in 2020
​The Whitehall Fire Company is proud to have responded to a record 387 fire calls in 2020.  Despite unexpected challenges 2020 has brought to us, no call went unanswered. As an all volunteer company, we pride ourselves on doing what is best for those we serve. Whitehall Borough can rest easy knowing we will be there whenever the alarm sounds no matter the circumstances.

MVA WITH HEAVY DAMAGE - August 29, 2020
​
At approximately 1:00 a.m. the Whitehall Fire Company was activated for three vehicle accident with ejection and entrapment. After arriving on scene crews worked to remove two victims from the sedan. Crews remained on scene for an extensive amount of time while the accident reconstruction team did their investigation.

MVA WITH HEAVY DAMAGE - July 20, 2020
At approximately 8:00 a.m. the Whitehall Fire Company was activated for a single vehicle accident, vehicle into a pole. Crews arrived on scene to assist with traffic control until Duquesne Light could come out and remove the pole. This accident did cause a brief power outage in the area.

MVA WITH HEAVY DAMAGE - June 18, 2020
At approximately 1:45 p.m. the Whitehall Fire Company was activated for a two vehicle accident with critically injured victims entrapment on Baptist Road at Windvale. 301 Rescue arrived on scene and began extrication of both drivers. This operation was completed in 8 minutes after arriving on scene, 13 minutes after initial dispatch. Once out of the vehicles, patients were transported to the hospital by MRTSA Station 780.

This accident was the first call for the use of our new battery powered rescue tools. The Company remained on scene for traffic control to allow SHACOG accident reconstruction to do their investigation.

MUTUAL AID - Brentwood, Structure Fire - June 2, 2020
​
Just before noon, the Whitehall Fire Company responded to Brentwood for a possible structure fire on Bellanca Avenue. Crews on the the first arriving engine from Station 105 went interior on initial fire attack. 301 Engine 1 arrived on scene and secured a hydrant for water supply. The fire was quickly knocked down and extinguished.

Commercial Structure Fire - April 26, 2020
​
At approximately 9:55 p.m., the Whitehall Fire Company was called to a fire in an automotive shop on the 2700 block of Saw Mill Run Blvd. Upon arrival a second alarm was requested. 301 truck quickly arrived on scene and went interior for fire attack. 301 Engine 1 secured the hydrant for water supply for the truck.

MUTUAL AID - Brentwood, 2 Alarm Structure Fire - April 12, 2020
​At approximately 9:30 a.m., the Whitehall Fire Company was activated for a commercial structure fire on the 3300 block of Brownsville Road. Initial dispatch reported working fire with multiple people hanging out of windows. This was quickly updated to people jumping from windows. Crews from Whitehall Fire Company quickly arrived on scene and worked interior on fire suppression and primary search and rescue.

SMOKE IN A DWELLING - April 2, 2020
​
At approximately 7:15 p.m., the Whitehall Fire Company was activated for a possible structure fire on the 1300 block of Varner Road. Caller reported house filling with smoke. Crews investigated, cause is believed to have been excessive heat/smoldering under the mulch at the front of the house.

VEHICLE ACCIDENT - April 1, 2020

At approximately 1:45 p.m., the Whitehall Fire Company was activated for single vehicle accident into a utility pole on the 5000 block of Brownsville Road. Crews controlled traffic while waiting for the car to be towed.

HOUSE STRUCK BY LIGHTNING - March 29, 2020

At approximately 12:21 a.m., the Whitehall Fire Company was activated for a house struck by lightning on the 300 block of Maxwell Drive. Crews investigated interior and exterior walls with no fire found.

FLOODED ROADWAY - March 28, 2020
​
At approximately 4:45 p.m., the Whitehall Fire Company was activated for a flooded roadway
at the intersection of Baptist and Weyman. Crews controlled traffic and cleared storm drains from debris that was preventing the water from draining.

​​DRYER FIRE IN A RESIDENCE  - March 21, 2020
​
At approximately 08:04 a.m., the Whitehall Fire Company was activated to the 4800 block of Flamingo Drive for a gas dryer on fire. Units arrived quickly on scene to extinguish the fire. Flames were contained to the dryer and the area around the appliance. From time of dispatch to the scene being put under control was under 13 minutes.

​MVA WITH HEAVY DAMAGE - February 26, 2020
​
At approximately 11:10 p.m., the Whitehall Fire Company responded to a motor vehicle accident on the 4400 block of Brownsville Road. The Whitehall Fire Company provided traffic control and scene safety while awaiting Duquesne Light Company to arrive to make necessary repairs and replacement of the utility pole. Crews cleared the scene shortly after 02:00 a.m.

MUTUAL AID - Brentwood, Structure Fire - January 22, 2020
​
At approximately 09:48, the Whitehall Fire Company responded to Brentwood for a possible structure fire on Catskill Avenue. Police arrived on scene reporting heavy smoke with flames seen. Brentwood 116 Engine 1 took the hydrant. One crew from Whitehall advanced a hose line to the fire floor while another mutual aid crew took a hose line to the second floor.  The fire was extinguished with a quick knockdown.

At approximately 01:00 a.m, the Whitehall Fire Company responded to a vehicle accident  on Brownsville Road between McAnulty Road and Curry Road. The Whitehall Fire Company provided traffic control and scene safety.

Monthly Meeting - Dec. 9, 2019
On December 9, the Whitehall Fire Company recognized Phil Lahr for 50 years of dedicated service.  Phil has been key to the success of the Fire Company over the years.  He served as president and was pivotal in the building of our #1 Station on Clairton Blvd.  Thank you to Phil for the countless hours that he volunteered to the Fire Company and community.

MVA WITH ENTRAPMENT - Dec. 7, 2019
At approximately 7:10 a.m., the Whitehall Fire Company was dispatched to a vehicle accident with entrapment on Doyle Road.  Deputy Chief Pearson arrived to find a vehicle driven into bushes alongside the road.  301 Engine 1 and Rescue crews were able to remove the patient by cutting away bushes with chainsaws.

SMOKE COMING FROM APARTMENT - Oct. 25, 2019
Whitehall Fire Company responded to Parkline Drive at 11:42 a.m. for a report of smoke coming from an apartment.  Deputy Chief Pearson established command and had Engine lay supply line from the hydrant.  Engine 1's crew performed a search and rescue and were able to save the apartment occupant, as well as extinguish the fire.

VEHICLE FIRE - Sept. 22, 2019
At approximately 1:00a.m., the Whitehall Fire Company extinguished a fully involved vehicle fire located in front of Station 1 on Clairton Blvd.  Engine 1's crew had the fire under control with minutes of dispatch.

HOUSE FIRE - Aug. 17, 2019
At 10:21 a.m., the Whitehall Fire Company responded to a house fire on Country Club Drive in Whitehall.  Chief Harris established incident command and immediately dispatched a 2nd alarm.   After laying 5" supply line from the hydrant, Engine 1's crew advanced a hoseline to prevent the fire from spreading to an adjacent house and a second line as an interior fire suppression.  Firefighters worked on fire suppression, ventilation, and salvage and overhaul on a day with the temperatures in the low 90s.
